that's the day we arriving, as well. We are still planning on going - as long as the power is up.

svarela002, are you driving too? Because I'm afraid of driving for 12+ hours and finding we have to keep driving just to find a place to stay. We are staying 2 days up going to Orlando for 7 and staying 2 days back. But now we have to worry about "Emily" going back. My poor husband has been more excited about Destin than Disney for 3 months now and I just keep telling him to wait....

We do own a condo at the El Matador. We just did not want to take the 3 mile hike from the fire station to get to our condo to assess the damages. However as of 6 am on Tuesday Santa Rosa Blvd will be re-opened.

Maegan997.... this could be a possibilty:

I-10 East -> HWY 285 South -> HWY 20 East -> HWY 293 South -> HWY 98 at Destin.

I have not heard any of those roads or bridges being closed, but I cannot say with 100% certainty. Maybe a local will read this and comment.....

Thanks. Obviously those routes aren't closed? Since I don't know the area the road closure web site was like reading french to me. I'll keep trying the hotel and keep your route handy.

Bay bridge is open but with curfews. you should be okay travelling during the day. As of 2 pm there was no power, water, or sewer on the okaloosa island.

This is the route I'm looking at taking (coming from New Orleans). It seems to be all clear.

Seagrove - a friend in Grayton Beach (next to Seagrove) reported that they never even lost power for any extended periods. Most businesses in Grayton/Seaside/Seagrove and along HWY 30-A are reopening today or tomorrow. Moderate beach erosion, but still there.

I put a new thread up earlier that has all the roads that are now open and the ones that are closed. Some of the highways have curfews. This is a direct site for the Florida Highway of Transportation. You should check it out before you leave.
http://eoconline.org/welcome.nsf
Click on Road Status and then to the right on the next screen click on road status again. It will give you a complete list of all highways, bridges, etc that are closed and or opened with restrictions.

Are you referring to the Mid-Bay Bridge on HWY 293 or the Choctaw Bay Bridge on HWY 331? Thanks for the info.

on that website it has all the highway numbers you were stating that you were taking.
I checked out the site for you, and I-10 is open, Hwy. 293 is re-opened but with a 6 pm curfew and highway 98 into destin is still to be determined. Miracle Strip prky is closed, also okaloosa island which is the road that goes from fort walton down to where all the hotels and condos are located is closed but expected to re-open at 6 am
