Question destin weather fall and winter

I would like to know the average degrees of weather from Oct to March in Destin. We are considering spending several weeks either late in the fall or winter there. We have never been on that coast. Your information will be appreciated.

Cool

Short answer? PERFECT!

As for the temperatures from October to March, here they are:

Oct: Hi = 80; Low = 60
Nov. Hi = 69; Low = 50
Dec. Hi = 63; Low = 44
Jan. Hi = 61; Low = 42
Feb. Hi = 63; Low = 44
Mar. Hi = 70; Low = 52

Not too bad! In fact, that's the time of year most locals will tell you is their favorite... there's even a nickname for it - "sweater weather." Just chilly enough to make you want to wear a sweater or light jacket, but warm enough to enjoy the outdoors.

Are you sure those temperatures are correct? That seems more like advertising "fibs" than reality.

They're no fib, retiredhappy... heck, I didn't even stretch the truth a tiny bit! No, amazing as it seems, these are the numbers given by the "official" weather sources.

Trust me, it's practically unbelievable to me, too. Winter essentially begins in late December and ends in mid February. Sure, it's gets cool before and after these dates, but those are usually anomolies.

The temps ARE that good! The water temp right now is pretty good, they're running in the mid-70's by all reports... I don't know how much longer they'll hold out though. As I understand it, when the Gulf Stream moves farther out, the water temps should cool down quickly. The divers on the board could answer this better than I can... any takers?

Hi again everyone! Been out goofing for a few weeks (the wife and I are "into" antique cars, and had to go to a parts swap meet in Arkansas- now I've got original Model A side lamps!) and just saw this post.

:D I'm retired happy, too! They're telling you the truth retiredhappy, the weather here is incredible, and the temp range seems right. Today the temperature is about 78 (by my outside thermometer). Not sure of the water temp, but it feels pretty good on the ol' toes!

Unhappy

I've been asking around and heard that I've missed the best diving weather. That's disappointing. I guess spring starts early there. What's the weather like in spring?

I'm not a diver myself Dominic, but I know the weather's great in the spring. I'm not sure about the water temps, but the air's very nice most of the time after late February or early March.

For those of you from out of town, let me tell you, the weather now is UNBELIEVABLE ! The temps have been in the high 70s to mid 60s for weeks! What I'm saying is it's still air-conditioner weather down here. Don't know about the water temps but I'd guess they're good too. Ah, the retired life...

Red face

Thought I'd better mention that the weather isn't so "hot" down here anymore. We've gotten everything but the frozen precipitation you hear so much about on the radio.

On the plus side the water's still pretty warm! Not that you would want to get out of it if you were brave enough to jump in.

It could be worse I guess, we could have snow and ice like Atlanta.

Definitely coming down Feb. 1. Saw on the weather station that the forecast for the next week is right in line with what you folks said. Feb. should be even warmer I guess. I appreciate your answers.

Happy to help, retiredhappy! The weather down here does seem unreal sometimes. Today its a little below average. According to my backyard thermometer (the most accurate around - ha) its 57 degrees. But by next week it could be 70, and stay that way until April when it gets really hot!

Have a good trip down, and maybe we'll see you around. I'll be the only person in Rosemary Beach with their own Tripsmarter tshirt! (I won the forum contest a while back. Can't help bragging on myself!)

Talking I'm back!

Hellllloooo everyone! I'm back on the Emerald Coast and it's hard to believe that I'm in the same country as two days ago! We left Omaha with snow on the ground and more on the way in. The temp was 5 degrees in the sun and even the cows were shivvering.

Here it's been almost 70 degrees today (just a tad over 69 to be exact!), the sun is not just shining but actually warm and there are people walking around in shorts!

It's good to be home.
;)
