Inn at Crystal Beach
Arriving in Destin to stay at The Inn at Crystal Beach Aug 6th. Worried about beach erosion. Saw pics of beach after Dennis and it looked like you would have to literally jump off a small cliff to get to the beach. Think that much damage will be better by August?

I am staying at the Inn at Crystal Beach Aug 13-27. I found arial views of the Inn which shows the pool intact but both beach walkovers are gone. You can't see the beach erosion but I'm sure it's pretty bad. I called them and they said none of the condo's were damaged (we are on 1st floor) and they are repairing the beach walkovers by this weekend. They said the pool is operational. Hope this helps.

I am also staying at the Inn at Crystal Beach in mid August. What are the beach conditions currently. Are they cleaning up that area. Any detailed info or recent pictures is appreciated.

I have posted this link many times on the board, so you might have seen these already. It doesn't look like Crystal Beach was as bad as other areas. These were pretty recent after Dennis....

Week in Destin
Just arrived home from a week in Destin. (Inn at Crystal Beach) Had great weather and clear water. Just minor inconveniences with beach damage. Over all was a great week, like the Destin of old. Most interesting event was a 10 foot hammerhead shark which appeared yesterday afternoon around 3PM. Good thing it was the last day, because kids were terrified to go in the water again. I think he was spotted by a construction worker on top of a high crane, but not sure about that part. Anyway, everybody got out of the water very quickly and watched him just swim lazily along, sometimes coming within 20 feet of shore. The Destin Rescue boat came very quickly to monitor the situation. The good part was the fact that the water was so clear, you could see him very well. I had been snorkeling at the sandbar all week, and wondered what I would have done if I had seen him while out. Oh well, all's well that ends well.......

We've been here since Aug 13; staying until Aug 26. Here's the good news...the weather and water is the best we've had in 5 years...crystal clear, warm, just gorgeous. There was some beach erosion and some damage to the exterior patio and corners of the pool area but you don't really notice it after the first day. Still tons and tons of white fluffy sand in Crystal Beach. It doesn't get much better than this...WOW.
