Icon9 how's sandestin beach resort

We're heading off to Sandestin beach resort tonight and I was wondering if any one can advise how it is, currently... How's the weather there? Is the water currently still double red flags? Is it as bad as what I'm hearing? This is our first time going there and hearing all these news b/c of Hurricane Dennis is giving us doubts about the vacation and we can't cancel reservation b/c it's non-refundable. Please advise...any news is welcome.

Sandestin

I spoke with a representative of Sandestin yesterday. Here's what she said, "Sandestin is just fine...no structural damage, just some beach erosion, we hope to add some dunes as soon as next week to help protect further erosion."

The good thing about Sandestin is that there is so much to do in Bay Towne Wharf... it's a GREAT resort, with wonderful staff and service, and they are the most capable of making sure your vacation is as good as possible. I have had several corporate meetings there. You are going to a great place.

If the beaches at Sandestin are still a little murky for some reason, you can drive just a few miles east and the beaches are going to be great... take a road trip to Panama City Beach or Seaside and spend the day playing in the water, then, go back to Sandestin and have a ball with all the things they offer to do... We'll all be keeping our fingers crossed that the beaches are clear for you! Will you have internet access when you get there? If so, write us and let us know so we can pass the word.

Have fun! One way or the other, I know you will.

There are some pics of Sandestin here:

Are you staying in one of the towers on the beach?

We stayed at Sandestin in October of last year, right after Ivan and it was wonderful. There is a lot to do, even if you can't do the beaches. My favorite activity was to lay out on the patio and listen to the water, though.

If you go to their website and click on Virtual Tour, you can see the marina cam to see the weather there. The beach cam hasn't worked since Ivan went through. Check it out to ease your fears that everything will be fine. Also, while at their website, check out all there is to do in Baytowne Wharf. It really is a neat place.

Also, if you go to Sandestin's website and click on "Post Ivan Photos" it will actually show you post Dennis photos. It only shows the Wharf area which tells me that the beaches are pretty rough.

Cool

Wife and daughter just at the Hilton for a birthday party. Plenty of beach, plenty of fun to be had. Make sure to take the tram over to Baytowne Wharf and grab some grub and grog.

Go to the Cajun Food store and Tell Chef Patty hello! Take a cooking class too!

Acme for the BEST raw ones in Destin. With a bottled Barqs Root Beer.

Walk the dock and pier on the bay. Even catch a boat across thebay to the main area of Sandestin near the entrance.

Plenty of open houses for real estate there too. If you want to invest in YOUR Emerald Coast dream then look me up.
