Pompano Joe's

Is Pompano Joe's open? Some pics after Dennis showed the parking lot and the area in rough shape. Are any of the major restaurants in Destin closed yet? We are heading down after Labor Day and can't wait!

Cool

You should be good to go.

Do not know what you mean about major restaurants being closed BUT all is well and things are cooking.

Check out Cuvee Beach Wine Bar when you are in and look up Johnny Chicago.

If you want to buy some real estate, look ME up.

Pompano Joes

We just got back from a week at the Majestic Sun yesterday. Pompano Joes is open and delicious as usual. The parking lot did suffer extensive damage and is closed except for the first row next to 98. All of the restaurants along the area are back open and in good shape.

The beaches are very different than our week there last year. Even with restoration they are not as wide nor easy to manuver. Most of the stairway walk overs have not been replaced yet. They have brought in sand and tried to make the "dunes" again, however it is a very steep access down to the beach (you will need water sandals or shoes). They are also not as wide as they were in the past and the water seems to drop off much faster than before. It is almost as if the beach was transported by the Hurricane to the first sand bar, and the second is far out or just nonexistent. Very different. There were also a lot of jelly fish in the water to watch out for. I don't know if this is the season or we just got lucky. They hurt, so be prepared and keep an eye out.

Even so, the beaches are absolutely beautiful and clean. The county is working 24/7 to refurbish the beach. There is a lot on construction equipment moving about. Things should be back to normal by the time you go on your trip. We enjoyed our trip so very much. Sunny days, balmy nights, great food, great atmosphere. Destin will always be a great place to be.

Enjoy!
