As promised here is my second review

To sum it up the stores did not imporess me. As a man on a tight budget the stores are over priced, targeting women, and the restraunts there are waaay too expensive. ($28 bucks for a cup of soup and a sand'wch??)

Destin Commons in my book gets a F- because they have no electronic stores, very few stores for men (I guess we don't shop enough) and stores I never heard of

THERE ARE A FEW EXCEPTIONS

Sharper Image is preety cool..get's a B in my book (due to the fact their ionizer costs $500 bucks..and the computer shack needs one badly..pass)

Build a Bear is neat. I almost build one for the brat (my dog) except at $18 bucks it's not worth it. But for a kid it is. I almost bought one for myself!

As in my other review..Rave movie theater gets an A- since its the only *decent* theater in this area.

/me wonders why don't we have one where I live (the Commons is almost an hour drive from here)

May I suggest if your planning on shopping is to use your own judgement. Go to the mall in FWB or check out the other stores before going to the commons.

The only good thing is there are several restraunts near that section of town so dinner and a movie is possible.

Hey there Rob,

I think I have to disagree with a few of your points in your review of Destin Commons....I think it's a glorious place!!! True, I am a woman, so there are many more shops for me to browse, spend, and charge away in. However, many men I know, can keep themselves entertained for hours at the "Almighty" Bass Pro Shop which is one of the anchor stores there. It's HUGE.

And if you have children, they'll also be highly entertained (and completely worn out) after playing for hours on the great padded playground that's well within sight of the enormous Christmas Tree at the center of the plaza. Is it the biggest one in the Panhandle?? I think it might be. It's lovely, and so are the rest of the lights, decorations, and festive Christmas music that's piped out throughout the Common's sound system.

As far as the restaurants, I stick with a winner and have my soup and sandwich at Panera Bread Company...wonderful Chicken Noodle and the softest, fresh baked bread available...all for $5.99. Now, that's a deal.
I haven't tried many of the others, I know Hard Rock Cafe is a classic, and a great place for Cheeseburgers. Or, if your in hurry, I hear that Johnny Rocket's is hard to beat for burgers as well.

And of course there's Starbucks, which is a great way to warm your insides, and boost your energy level...which may be running low after all the shopping you've been doing. But, what I'm really looking forward to is the opening of Grapes Wine Bar, where I'll really indulge in the luxuriousness of the atmosphere as I sip on a wonderful glass of Pinot Noir and people watch to my delight.

The Rave theater is great, I'm glad you gave it an A. The sound system rocks, and it's always clean...which is not always the case at some of the other movie theaters around my area.

There are several stores that some people may have never heard of, but that's what makes it more and more exciting than your everyday stores that you see at every shopping center. Overall, I give Destin Commons an A+, and think it's well worth the 45 minute drive from Panama City, especially this time of year when it's so decorative all along 98. I love it!

Well they figured out that all the women do the shopping f the men. Baah. I'll stick to online shopping since theres usually an accident on 98 anyhow because these morons don't know how to drive

This mall is just like any other mall you go to. Except it sucks. Compared to what I've seen in other spots. The stores are national..etc. just do a search for santa rosa mall. Nothing impressive to say the least except the restraunts are good.

I'm a guy and I like Destin Commons. I'm not much on shopping, but it's a fun place to walk around or hang out. Teenagers love the place because they can wander around.

Of course I love Bass Pro - that's pretty much a given. My favorite place in the Commons is Bluepoint Fish Club. It's become one of the most popular nightspots in town - I frequent the place quite often.

As far as Santa Rosa Mall over in Ft. Walton ... I never go over there. There's nothing there for me that makes it worth the drive from Destin.
