Question Destin quiz

Ok, discovered something I didn't know, and wouldn't have guessed... which state sends Destin the most visitors. It's probably not who you'd think.. Any guesses?

Unhappy

No txangel, that's not it... in fact, I'd say that Texas tags are a pretty rare sight in Destin generally. Anyone else?

Well, the answer is - Illinois. The Land of Lincoln sends down fully 1 out of 5 of Destin's visitors, according to the Okaloosa County Tourist Development Council.

Other parts of Florida account for 8% according to TDC figures, while Georgia contributes 6% and Alabama 4%. The last two figures are most surprising...

Question

Ok, that went well... that's see what other stats we can pull from that same TDC report.

What percentage, do ya think, traveled to Destin by car? Hmm, 1 in 5 coming from Illinois...

...and, how many said that the beaches were one of the reasons they were coming?

No takers, eh? Ok, the report says 93% traveled to Destin by car... you'd have thought some of those Illinoisans would have flown.

And, 89% said that the beaches were one of the main reasons they chose to visit Destin...

Useless info

How's this for useless yet fascinating info - at 8:02pm tonight something will happen that hasn't happened in 1,001 years and will never happen again...

As the clocks go from 8:01 to 8:02, time will read in perfect symmetry - 2002, 2002, 2002. How's that you say? In military or European time, 8:02 is 20:02 hours... and the date is 20/02 or the 20th of February, and of course the year is 2002.

The last time it happened was 10 January 1001. Of course, no one knew, since timekeeping was done much differently...
