SANDCASTLE LESSONS ON THE BEACH
On Friday, May 4 and Friday, May 18, 2007, beginning at 9:30 AM and again at Noon, approximately 80 men, women, and children will be gathering on the beautiful beaches of Ed Walline Park in Santa Rosa Beach, FL to learn how to create sand castles.
Under the instruction of master sand sculptor, Mark Flynn of Sand Odyssey, these classes have been set up as an art lesson for the GCCHEA (Gulf Coast Christian Home Educators Association) for the Destin/South Walton branch. Students have pre-registered, along with some of their parents, for the two-hour lessons.
Mark has sculpted in many Sandfests in the U.S. and abroad and has photos of his creations on his web site:
www.sandodyssey.com.
The lessons were initially brought to the attention of the students to see if anyone would have an interest. To help share in the reasonable cost per person, a class size of 25 was recommended, it wasn't clear how many would be interested in signing up. "I was hoping for at least 10 people" the organizer thought. The response was an overwhelming 80 participants. One family even commented that they have had private family lessons with Mark before and liked it so much that they signed up again. Because of the large response, classes had to be divided up into 4 separate groups and split between the two days in May to make sure all will have quality instruction time with Mark.
You are invited to come to the "world's most beautiful beaches" on the Emerald Coast, in Santa Rosa Beach's Ed Walline Park on either one or both Fridays, May 4 and May 18 to watch the action and creation taking place. The first class begins at 9:30 - 11:30 AM and the second class begins at Noon-2 PM. Bring your cameras and creative optimism! See you there!
