Question Purple flag?

I just checked the website that shows the current flag condition on the South Walton beaches, and noted that the purple flag is up. In 15 years of visiting Destin the last week in August, we have never seen a purple flag before. How bad are the jellyfish? What can we expect to find next week? While I'm asking about water conditions, what is the seaweed situation this year?

4 more days until we're back!!!!

I haven't seen too many purple flags or jellies this summer. Seaweed was moderate, but came in late... so, there's still some left in patches. I don't thnk either is bad enough to ruin a good day at the beach/

Purple Flags Are Out!

Have fun on your vacation :)
Sadly we just got home from over a week in Destin on the beach. The purple flags were out all week and the jellyfish were everywhere. When we went parasailing we saw just how populated the beaches were with them. I was stung twice, my oldest daughter was stung three times and my youngest child was stung twice. They were everywhere when we took a boat out as well! Yes, they sting for a bit but there were some real great memories made yet again at our favorite beach in the world!
The seaweed was not bad at all this year. Although the tropical storm might have churned that up a bit now.
Have a great time!

Welcome to the forums Beachy!

Too bad about the jellies - sounds like they're a little heavier in Destin than PCB right now..
