Late October Weather

My wife and want to visit Destin in late October (24-27). We have been to Destin numerous times in the summer; however, never during this time of year. I realize the temp is between 80-60. I want to know if its warm enough to lay on the beach and get in the water? Are there people doing that this time of year? Is that time of year comparable to Spring Break (first week in April?) Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Kyle Williams (Teacher - Indianapolis, IN)

Welcome to the forums! Comparing late-October weather conditions to Spring Break is pretty accurate... although it's usually nicer in October.

If you've been down on the Gulf during Spring Break, you know that whether the water is warm enough to swim in is a personal thing... you'll find alot of people in the water then, but maybe more just hanging out on the beach.

It's defintely warm enough to lay on the beach! You'll see quite a few people doing just that. You'll have a great time, fall is the best time to visit the Gulf Coast!

Check around and you'll find specials at restaurants and bars, and there are great daytrips in the area - Gulf Island National Seashore to the west near Pensacola, the Air Force Armament Museum at Eglin Air Force Base, Blackwater River State Park, and Eden State Gardens all are close and entertaining.

Always a pleasure to help! There's so much to do around here, that even the "off" season offers enough fun to pack a vacation.

Hwy 30-A is a must-see while you're down here. It's a day's worth of interesting sights and terrific food - and several very good places to drink!

Have fun, and let us know how it went when you get back!
