Tar balls from Oil Spill on Okaloosa Island
Well, they found tar balls on Okaloosa Island today (West of Destin, between Destin and Fort Walton Beach).
However, no tar balls have been found in Destin, yet and no beaches are closed. Officials are advising people on Okaloosa Island to stay out of the water only in the isolated spots where the tar balls were discovered. Don't cancel your plans to visit just yet... it might still be quite a while before the heavy oil makes it this far East. Just make sure your hotel has a fair cancelation policy.
