Hi All,
Could anyone let me know of any cheap taxi companies that offer fares from the (VPS) Fort Walton airport (the one on the north side of the bay) to Sandestin. It's about 25 miles and I'm getting quotes of $48. Is that the going rate? I'm thinking that there may be other companies that don't have internet advertizments to have tourists like me to call them and would love to offer a ride for me and my wife for cheaper than that. I lost a number of one company that quoted $33 so I know there are other companies offering less. Any help would be appreciated, and thank you in advance. If you have any additional advice, it would be greatly appreciated.

"They could check with their hotel/resort for a shuttle. Some of the higher end places offer it for free.

Otherwise, there are always cabs and shuttles just hanging out at the airport waiting for fares, so they can definitely be negotiated on site."

Wow, is this Shawn again? You certainly get around....Thanks for the reply...., I checked with a whole bunch of other taxi and shuttle services that spend way too much money on paying for their websites and of course $48 was the cheapest, up to $65 for some. My hotel does not offer free shuttle as it's Club Intrawest and it's a timeshare location that friends gave us for a week. The hotel suggested using a company that they deal with that had that $65 dollar amount, one way. I will try your suggestion and see if we catch another cab or shuttle at the airport, although I was hoping to get a local number of a taxi service just to see if we could schedule beforehand.
