The Destin Fire Rescue Foundation will host "2009 Beach Blast" on Saturday, June 6, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The event will take place at June White Decker Park, on the gulf in Destin. Cost for the fundraiser will be $10 per participant.

Features include a play area filled with inflatables including bounce houses, water slides, slip-n-slides and a rock climbing wall/obstacle course. In addition, pre-season Jr. Lifeguard competitions, lifeguard demonstrations, sponsored instructional activities such as paddle boarding, jet skiing, kite boarding, kayaking and surfing will be presented.

The Jr. Lifeguard Program is an eight-week experience that educates area youth in a wide range of activities. Jr. Lifeguards learn first aid, CPR, surf skills, scuba diving and boating safety.
