Acme in Baytowne Village
Despite the fact that you may pay a bit more for the fare in this locale due to it being visitor oriented, Acme stays true to it's New Orleans roots and serves up some fab fare in the form of Po Boys, Plates and a few more unusual items such as yummy sweet potato fries. Try them with the gravy on them.
I must state unequivocally that they have the best and most consistent raw oysters in the Destin area. Also get the Barqs root beer in the small bottle and ask to see if they have the Creme Soda in that day. Boisterous and loud atmosphere you would expect from an eatery patterned off the French Quarter in the Big Easy. The oysters get 5 out of 5 shells from me and the overall eating experience gets 3.5 shells. Look for 101 Things To Do magazine at a location near you on the Emerald Coast including the Crab Trap and Gilligans. Acme delivers!
Went out to the Art Festival yesterday and stopped in yesterday with the wife for a dozen raw and split a catfish Po-Boy. STILL the best raw oysters in Destin area.
The catfish was fried just right with a light crunch and flaky meat inside. Just a dash of Tabasco and a spoon of tartar. Washed it down with a bottled Barqs Root Beer. Escaped for $25 with tip. Nice day at the fest. Stop by today with mom and buy her something. |
