Ok so they do not have crawfish pie, yet.
There is a relatively new place in town for some good eats and it is called Nickies. Located in Ft Walton at Uptown Station, the fare here is top notch.
I stopped by yesterday for lunch and was glad I got there early. When I left the place was PACKED. It is no wonder as they have 11 lunch specials for $5.99 and that includes sides or salad depending on the dish.
I asked Leslie, my colorful server, whether to get the Grilled Pompano or the Jambalaya. We decided on Jambalaya since she said it had a nice kick to it. This came with a salad and the yummy cajun creole dressing that had a bit of kick all it's own. The entree came out heaped in a bowl and was picture perfect. It had nice chunks of white meat chicken along with shrimp and some sausage. The roux base was flavorful and for dipping your garlic bread in while you go. Have not had this dish in a while but glad to say I will again.
I talked with George the owner/chef and fund out more about his place. He has a Sunday brunch and for dinner is currently running a 2 for 1 eat for $14.99 special to build the dinner crowd. You cannot beat that and he calls it Cajun Concoctions and Italian Pastas AND it goes from 4 PM until close. They are open 7 days too so no worries on if they are closed.
Looking forward to our next visit for dinner. Go by and see George and Sandy and tell them I sent you. You'll be glad you did. Let me know how you like it.
