Longhorn Steaks in Destin
Had a late lunch with my son there yesterday. Overall, a good experience, which could have been a GREAT one with a bit more effort.
Ate at the bar for a bit more casual feel.Three TV's in bar make it a nice place to sit. Also, many booths in the bar for smaller parties and with no smoking it is perfect. Not terribly crowded for our visit BUT despite making eye contact more than once, the tender kept cleaning up and took about 10 minutes to even approach us with any knowledge we were there. Ordered a Chicken dish with cheese and bacon, along with some fries and jalapeno coleslaw. Also got their tomato and onion salad with blue cheese crumbles and vinegarette dressing. It was great although we waited about 10 minutes to get it also. Also, no bread, no peanuts, given sweet tea instead of unsweet for second week in a row. A trend develops. The main entree was also very good although the fries were stone cold and limp, a sign of sitting too longand this came out before I could even finish the salad. The chicken itself was great and will be ordered again. Still no bread offered. I know now that the service was not up to par for us when another couple walked in and sat right next to us. In less than two minutes they had drinks, peanuts and bread. Another server was assisting them. I think maybe our server was trying to leave which MAY explain the difference? Too full for any dessert BUT they had this new Key Lime Cake that looked great. You can also order a chocolate thing that will feed a whole family. Also some of the coldest beer you can order including Bass Ale. The menu is varied and should have something all will like. This visit I will give the food an 8.5 and the service a 6. If the fries were hotter and crisper the food goes up a half point. STILL, a great place for families and for a relaxing and beefy meal. I personally like it better than Outback down the road. On a normal day I would give this place a solid 8.5-9 overall for where it fits in the restaurant dining realm. C'mon down and Coast with Keith! www.keithgoescoastal.com |

Longhorn Steak House
The Longhorn is one of my favorite restaurants in the Destin area. It is relatively inexpensive, the New York Strip steak is excellent and it offers several side dishes that are very good and don't require eating potato of one kind or another. The steak rub ("Prairie Dust") tastes very good.
The service is usually pretty good--not always depending on how busy it is. It gets crowded at times; I try to avoid it on Sunday afternoons and early evening during the heavy tourist season |

Again it's people'e attitudes. Remember we are being trashed with hurricanse and crappy weather. So don't put them down because im sure they have a lot on their mind.
If you have a bad experience report their *** to the manager. They don't deserve to work. Being ungreatful that you have a job in this sh*tty economy isn't worth your troubles. Rob |
