Did Basmati's change ownership? Management? Chef?


We had a family celebration meal there last night and were disappointed to say the least in the service and food quality/quantity for the $165.00 we spent.

With 6:30 PM reservations, it took us 2 hours and 10 minutes to eat, drinks went empty for 20-30 minutes at a time, food was good but not grand and to top it off, sodas when refilled were charged the $2.00 each time.

They did get full a while after we were seated but we are talking only nine or so tables in the entire place.


We ordered sushi for the table, Truffled Tuna and Dorothy rolls, good but not any better than the lower end sushi joints here.

Wife and daughter got the nightly special which is not a bad deal at $19.00. It came with a four piece sushi roll, very small portion of soup and a taste of an entree, salmon for wife and stuffed chicken for daughter.

I got the spicy egg drop soup w/ crab "bowl" ($8.00) and a duck salad($12.00) Bowl was 1/4 full and the quality was reminiscent of a $7.99 chinese buffett. Salad was the highlight of my meal but smallish for $12.00. My son got a roll which he liked ok and fried rice which he did not like at all. (My son likes fried rice, get the picture.)


I guess what made it the worst was the interminable wait for everything.

I will rate on my scale of 10 shells, service at 3 and food at 7, which I think is generous, for an averaged rating of 5 shells. I do not know why the service was bad, kitchen?? Shorthanded?, but the food did not live up to what we remembered at Basmati's on past visits.
