Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic At Sandestin Golf And Beach Resort

Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic Sells Out for 2007

Full Field of 80 Boats to Compete for Expected $1 Million in Prize Money

Destin, Fla. – (June, 14, 2007) –– In only its fifth year in existence the Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort is becoming one of the top Billfish tournaments in North America. Tournament officials announced this week that a full field of 80 boats will compete for an expected $1 million in prize money, eclipsing last year’s tournament record of 77 entries.

Admission is free to the public each day, kicking off Thursday, June 21 with the Dock Walk at Baytowne Marina from 4 to 7 p.m., followed by the annual ECBMC Boat Parade beginning at 6 p.m. Spectators are encouraged to take in the sights from the pier at The Village of Baytowne Wharf as the field heads out into the Gulf of Mexico for the start of tournament fishing.

Friday, June 22, weigh-in begins at 4 p.m. and run through 9 p.m. and will feature live entertainment from 6 to 8 p.m. by “Square One” at the Village of Baytowne Wharf. Saturday, June 23 special events and sponsor exhibits will be open throughout with weigh-in beginning at 4 p.m.

The 2006 ECBMC saw over $1 million in prize money awarded, and a tournament record 692.2-pound Blue Marlin hauled in by the “Big Adventure.” Tournament officials expect to announce a record purse for the 2007 ECBC some time next week.
