I am not gay or homophobic but I heard Fantasy Fest is a big party for gays. My friends and I are planning a Bachelor Party trip there and were wondering if this is a bad idea for us.

Can anyone shed some light?

I think that may be a stereotype since Key West is such an openly gay-friendly place. Fantasy Fest is a HUGE party much like Mardi Gras or Carnival with Costumes, music, etc. I think you're sure to see more gay people participating in that celebration because it's in Key West, but you shouldn't let it turn you off to partying there or visiting Key West. EVERYONE loves to party, and the more the merrier.

I'm 27, male, and straight and I would TOTALLY party in KEY WEST if i had the chance.... especially on a bachelor party. With all the famous Key West bars, you'll have no problem getting your drink on. And remember.. some parts of KeyWest are clothing optional... so you've got drinks and half/whole naked people... and during Fantasy Fest they're will be plenty of ladies around for your single guy friends... even though you're taking the dive.

Key West is not nearly as "gay" as it was in the 70's and 80's. It is much more main stream. F.F. is just a big party. Basically there is one block with a few gay bars and they will be partying too. You will not be diappointed if you go to Fanatsy Fest. I just recently moved away from KW and wish I had stayed. The only problem you will run into to is the amount of people and no parking. So reserve your rooms WAY early and as close to Duval St. as possible so you can "duval crawl" back to your room. My wife and I are already planning the move back and we will be there for FF.
