I've only been to Key West once, but I was tickled to see that topless beaches and 'clothing optional' places are everywhere! We're definately going back! I loved the Garden on top of the Bull and Whistle and Atlantic Shores! Wild! Fun!

Just an update on the state of things in Key West...

Still topless (actually, totally clothing optional) atop the Bull and Whistle.

Still topless at Pier House beach (designated area only)

Key West... nothing else like it in the world!

Unfortunately The Pier House beach is only open to guest staying at the hotel. The only 2 places open to the public are The Garden of Eden and the pool at the Atlantic Shores. We do have many B&B's down here with topless/clothing optional pool/sundeck areas for another alternative but you must be a guest at those places.

Really? I didn't know you had to be a guest to go to the Pier House beach... I thought you could visit the bar there! I guess that makes sense, but a bit of a bummer! Thanks for the info.

Yea, and its not as private as it once was. The Beach Building overlooks it so anybody staying in those rooms get an eyefull.

Apparently, there is a big wine party at the Pier House this Sunday.... grglnswsh, I have ALWAYS wanted to meet you in person.... you are ALWAYS one step ahead of me when I'm posting 'the latest news' - are you going to the party?

LOL! Of course I am going to be there. It will be tons of fun. What it really is, is a chef competition. About a dozen local restaurants enter and for $40 guest get to try the dishes and vote which is best. This year Michaels, 915, A&B Lobster, Pier House, Cafe Sole, The Catch and a few others will be there. Many offer more than one dish so there is lots to try. For an extra $15 you can get a wine glass and have unlimited wine while you are there.

Boy, you're fast! I'm gonna try to pick you out of the crowd!

Okay, so what if you're single, going to Key West alone (bringing my little Yorkie) and are NOT gay?? I'm planning my first trip for September and don't want to miss anything!

Dottie, you were at Eden's Garden I understand. Could you explain how the bar operates? If it is clothing optional does it mean that you undress somewhere there or before you enter? What are the activities, atmosphere, clientele? Anyone went there? How was it?

Well, first, let me assure you that you do NOT have to be gay to be naked in Key West! Lots of people of all ages, sizes and preferences do it, and they seem to be having a ball (so to speak)... I haven't personally been up to Eden, but my understanding is that you disrobe AFTER you arrive!

Atlantic Shores is still tops in my book, though! It's also a very mixed crowd... straight and gay.

Of course, there are a LOT of fun places to go where you can keep your clothes on and still have wayyyyyy too much fun... the nightlife section of this site lists most of them, with little notes on each.

Also, a wonderful resource for the nightlife info is the Club Hour section of this site. In the Club Hour section of the video archives you can see a lot of the various bars and clubs brought to you by that wacky Tom Luna and me.(I am not that wacky, but consider myself midly funny....)

Also once in the Keys, dont forget to watch Key TV at 7PM and Midnight for a look at whats hot and whats not when it comes to partying in Key West. (You can watch Key TV from the comforts of your own home anytime anywhere with our livestream web broadcast.

From laid back beach bars to the high energy scene of Aqua....that tiny island has it all for everyone...gay and straight, tall and short, thin and less than thin, smart and not so smart....no I am not talking about Tom and I on Club Hour, I am talking about who can have fun in Key West. Everyone!!!
