Well... one more....
Here's the latest update on Hurricane Wilma from Key TV's meteorologist:
Wilma will enter the Gulf of Mexico mid day on Friday as a CAT III hurricane (111-130mph) and begin a gradual turn to the Northeast. It will begin to accelerate and make it's closest pass to KW between 10AM and 2PM on Saturday the 22nd.
Because it will begin moving more quickly, it will most likely weaken to a cat II (96-110) as it approaches the Keys. The forecast track brings it just west of KW with landfall around Sanibel Island in SW FL about 7PM Saturday evening as a cat II.
Key West weather:
Intermittent clouds and thunderstorms Wed and Thursday with winds out of the SE at 18-25 mph with gusts into the mid 40's Friday night with heavy rainfall.
Heavy rain and winds gusting into the 60's late Friday, Friday night, and Saturday morning.
Saturday goes down the tubes with conditions deteriorating all day (worst 10AM - 2PM). Wind and rain steady and then gradually decreasing as morning approaches.
Sunday morning: heavy rain, winds in the 40's with occasional gusts of 50+ decreasing gradually. By afternoon, decreasing clouds with winds out of the west around 35 mph and occasional (still HEAVY) showers. Clouds decrease even more overnight.
Monday: mostly sunny, west wind 18-22 mph decreasing overnight.
Tuesday: Beautiful and breezy, high of 81.
Wilma exits the east coast and emerges into the Atlantic and keeps on trucking....
Good Luck and God Bless the Conch Republic!
