I hate to see this. It has been such a fun place to hang out at. The small restaurant made great Lox n Bagels. And the liqour store was very convienent.

The comment in the story about the Island is going upscale is Bull Sh!t. It's the developers that are buying up everything and making it that way.

It does suck but you know this has been in the works for a while.

Bummer! Atlantic Shores is a KW icon and one of our best clients.

Guess you can't stop "progress". We've been dealing with the same thing in PCB for the last few years...

Well at least they are not doing the condo thing anymore but to get 350 a night, in season, on that side of the island is going to be tough.

I couldn't agree with you more. A company called Cay Clubs is buying up large properties all over the Keys and developing overpriced condos. Even the local developers like the Swifts, the Spottswood's, and Pritham Singh have sold out our town.

Holiday Inn Beachside went condo. Marthas/Benihanas is getting torn down for condos. More and more of the salt ponds are getting developed. Even up in my neighborhood on Summerland Key, huge mansions are being built everywhere. Across the canal from me, a 7800 SF monstrosity is going up.

Don't get me wrong. I still love it here. But the development has gone beyond ridiculous.

Spottswood is still very connected to the Keys and Key West and they are continually developing. They have not sold out. You should see the plans for the monstrosity they are going to build at the entrance to Key West.

That's what I mean by "sell out." Every day, plans are made to cut more hotel rooms. Key West is very quickly losing it's charm. Pretty soon, it will be South Ft. Lauderdale.

Why in the world does Key West need a Convention Center? The Spottswood are razing 4 hotels to build this thing.

Aqua, I was refererring to Stomi's comment about how she will miss Singh. I assumed she thought that they had left the Keys and Key West. Neither has. That was my point.
