February in Key West!
First post from Marjorie:
It is wonderful to be in Key West any time of the year but especially fun in February to sit and watch the weather reports from up North. Nearly three feet of snow in DC! Blizzard conditions almost every weekend. Even family members in Richmond are stuck inside or continue to shovel driveways. Key West had a brief stint of cold weather but we like to keep it above 70. The warmest spot in the USA The winter light in Key West is almost silver and the blue skies seem to go on forever. Everything is in bloom. The theaters and galleries are full of creative energy. The music scene in Key West offers something for everyone. The Keys piano bar has world-class singers and world class Martinis. Sloppy Joes has a new band everyday and Hogsbreath Saloon has a great array of musicians playing all day long and deep into the night. It’s wonderful to feel the sun on your face as you sit at along the harborwalk enjoying one of BO’s superfine fresh fish sandwiches and a cold beer. Spring break is just around the corner. Soon Smathers Beach will be full of beautiful young people playing beach volleyball. You can dine in great style at many oceanfront eateries. Salute at Higgs Beach is especially enjoyable, sitting right on the beach enjoying the parade of visitors enjoying a bike ride or jog. For especially divine dining Louie’s Backyard is second to none,. Sitting on The Afterdeck in the afternoon with a glass of wine is one of the finest Key West experiences So my advice to you is come and join us for a week or two maybe decide to stay forever as so many of us did. Escape the icy gray. Leave your mittens and mufflers at home. Just bring shorts and sandals. No dress code here. See you soon!
