I grew up near panama city and have lived spring break there many times. a change of pace would be nice and me and my friends have considered key west. but it would be nice to hear from someone who has actully been before we commit.

I think I can help you out on this topic girlstar, considering I'm from the Panams City area and have spent many spring breaks there yet have spent my last two spring breaks in Key West. You definitely won't be disappointed in Key West. There are many reasons why Key West is a great Spring Break destination. First of all, the weather is definitely going to be at least in the eighties, maybe warmer, so you're just about guaranteed great, sunny, warm weather, something that isn't always the case in PC in March. Although there aren't many beaches in Key West there is one central Spring Break beach, and that's Smathers. It isn't the nicest, especially compared to PC beaches, but it's packed to the max with people. If that isn't your idea of fun fear not, for there are numerous boating trips to other Keys and snorkeling spots, usually reasonably priced. As for nightlife, you can't go wrong in Key West. All the bars and clubs are on one street(Duvall) and all within only a few blocks, unlike PC where everything is spread out over the entire beach. The bars are great, stay open until four, and there only a short cab ride from the majority of the Spring Break hotels(no strip, sorry). All in all I would highly recommend a Key West Spring Break trip. It's definitely the spot for the Florida colleges, since it's not that far of a trip(at least in comparison to other schools). Getting there can be a pain, but it will definitely be worth it when you get there.

Good to hear that! I've heard from other people atht it's not as fun as PCB because the huge crowds aren't there. But that's what I think would be a nice change. We're planning on going March 6 whcich is when FSU and UF are on break. Some friends from UF are going and we're going to meet them down there. I've heard alot of studebts from UF and FSU have started going to Key West.

i hear mtv will be in kw again this year for 3 weeks. info from a friend who's sister is a bartender at rick's. maybe kw is the place to be this year? i'll post more if i hear anything else.

Usually when MTV does their tapping for shows, they are in town 3, 4 days tops! Thats how it was in Cancun when I was their for their taping in 2001! So, if they decided to go to KW, it would only be for a few days. But, from what Ive heard, mtv is looking at Panama City for their shows this year! At least thats what their casting director has told myself and my buddy who owns www.hotbars.biz , so..........guess we'll see, regardless, have a blast and drink a few for me! Ill be up in pcb from march 13-20 rockin out at the boardwalk beach resort! Enjoy

I agree. Even if you know the town that MTV will be covering, being there when they are (let alone getting your mug on TV for 1/2 of a second) is like spinning the roulette wheel. Good luck.

With PCB, what you do have a better chance of is being seen on Beach TV Club Hour, which is streamed worldwide during spring break and is out often, cranking out new footage almost daily at times.

You can lie to your friends about some close encounter with MTV (and have them laughing at you behind your back) but you have a better chance of ending up on Club Hour, see yourself on actual TV in your hotel room a couple days later, and showing your friends proof in the streaming video archives: http://tripsmarter.com/wide/current/...ing_Break_2003
