Key Lodge Inn
Hi all,
My husband and I are traveling to Key West in February. Does anyone know about the Key Lodge Inn? We don't care about a place being too fancy, etc. but just want clean, comfortable lodgings(in other words-not a dump)! Also, how about location? I know there are many places closer to some of the "hot spots", but we don't mind walking a bit. Any info/opinions you can give would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Susan

Hi and welcome to the bulletin boards! I've never stayed at this hotel myself, but here's some information that we have about it. Take a look, it should answer most questions about location and amenities. I'll bet Toni or grglnswsh know something about this place :D
Good luck! be sure to tell us about your trip, maybe upload a pic or two!

The Key Lodge is something out of the 60's. I have to laugh because I stayed there a lot as a kid and I swear they still have the exact same wallpaper and decor but it is clean and safe. Its nothing fancy but it usually is a good deal. The location is great, IMO, because you are on Duval (main street) but a few blocks down from all of the craziness. You really couldn't be any closer unless you wanted to be in the middle of things. There is parking available if you have a car but you really don't need one because of the location. Have a great time and be sure to report back.

key lodge Inn
The key Lodge Inn is perfectly located right in the center of Duval Street (the main street) and it's a perfect, funky, Key West motel-style place to stay. It's seen many upgrades and has its own pool yet it still has the flavor of Key West. If you found a rate there that suits your budget, I don't think you'll be disappointed. There are, however, so very many different kinds of places in Key West...one that will surely suit every one's taste in one way or another...the Price? now that's another matter, for as they say, "Paradise isn't cheap!";)

Courtney's Place
I'm going in September and will be staying at Courtney's Place. I got a great rate and they are pet friendly, so my little Yorkie is welcome to come with me.
Anybody heard anything good or bad about this place? I saw a few reviews that the pool is very small, but beautiful, and it's clean and friendly. I know it's close to things downtown.
All I know about Key West, I'm looking up on the internet...hope that's enough for my trip!

I have seen reviews on both extremes for Courtneys. Complaints like very small pool area, very worn rooms/cottages, not much of a breakfast, dirty feeling. But I have seen people who were very happy. I am guessing some of the rooms are not as nice as others.

No news on Courtney's
I don't know Courtney's, either, but I just have to echo the sentiments about the Key Lodge... it's a step back in time! Fun and very "motel."

I am also planning a trip to key west this summer (late June) and am looking into places to stay. I've found some pretty good sites and suggest www.fla-keys.com as they have some good references. I'm looking at moderately priced B&B's or quaint motels. Haven't written down Courtney's or Key Lodge Inn in my quest for the perfect place to stay. However, I was in KW for Christmas, 2001, and stayed at Ocean Key Resort and even though it was pricey, the view of the sunset was fantastic!
I'm wondering if anyone knows much about Abaco Inn (415 Julia Street) or the general area of Duval and Julia Street.
I hope you are not driving, because the parking is not cheap. We will be not be driving this time, and will use the shuttle services or just walk everywhere. Just be prepared for the heat. I live in South Florida and I know it will be grueling June and September.
If I can help with your plans, let me know.
