Hilton Has Nice Rooms But The Service Could Be Better!
I attended a company meeting and we stayed at the Hilton last Summer. It is a nice place right off Duval on the water. A bit cozy in terms of the space with a nice but tight pool area. My room was off the pool and to my pleasant surprise still very quiet when I turned in early the first evening. AC was nice and cool even if the room was a tad musty. Hey. it's Florida.
My rudest awakening was the first afternoon after arrival when I thought I would have a frozen libation on the deck near sunset. The one female bartender who was on duty was serving one other couple but she seemed not only disinterested in her job but in me or anyone else for that matter. She was actually a bit rude but I let it slide since I had just arrived and was relaxing. Her male counterpart then showed up and he was much worse making my stay at the bar short this PM. They actually drove business away. So you know it was NOT a fluke it happened again two nights later with the same female who was unfocused and even worse with her service despite the fact that we were spending quite a bit of cash with her. Oh well. I did let Hilton know they were not helping their business. I still give the HILTON GOOD MARKS FOR LOCATION AND ROOM COMFORT. Work on the people skils to make it better. Room service was great too INCLUDING the service.
My fave part of the trip was walking each day ALL around the island for an hour or more and I got some great pix of all the history and some very old churches which was cool. You can never really get lost as I never used a map just went down different roads.
Key West reminds me of New Orleans French Quarter a bit and I got to sample some good food by just walking in and seeing what was up places. Do not have to go back anytime soon BUT will if the right time comes up.
