Exclamation Vacation House Rental

Anyone have any advice on renting houses in Key West?

A group of 6-10 of us want to have a reunion there at the begining or middle of June. We want a clean/simple place close to the action that's not to gaudy or too expensive (under $2000 for the week? Bonus points for a pool and BBQ grill. If anyone has any recommendations/experiences to share, I'd appreciate it.

How is Key West around that time? Hot and muggy?

Key West Rentals!

VanillaBean, this could be tough getting a house for y'all for that price & that many people. I can recommend some rental companies to see if they can accommodate y'all. Talk to Kimberly at :D http://www.realkeywest.com/. Other ones for suggestions are:
http://www.vacationkeywest.com/, http://www.housesandhomes.com/keywes..._township.html

As far as the weather is concerned it can get up to the high eighties but you always have some ocean breezes unless you are downtown on Duval St. doing the Duval crawl. It can get hot & muggy but that won't be every day. It may even rain & cool things off for a while then after the rain its hot & muggy, just have a margarita & have some fun.

Cool Duval Crawl Explanation!

Zak,

The Duval crawl, if you have been to Key West, is explain this way. Not sure you know this, but there are numerous bars, saloons or fine establishments up & down & across Duval St. in Old Town. If you start at the lower end of Duval St. or right around Mallory Square & work yourself up Duval stopping at almost every bar to socialize having one beer or a cocktail, by the time you got to the sixth block you would be crawling to the next bar . That is, if you are in fine shape to do this. There are a lot of fine places to have a drink all along Duval St. plus some great shops & some great entertainment. Depending on where you will be staying in Key West, if you have done the Duval crawl, somehow you have to crawl back to where you are staying. That can be very difficult sometimes. But then again you have experience the Duval crawl. :D You now know what the Duval crawl is & why Key West is such a party town with fun & laughs every place you visit.

Thanks Ron! I kinda thought it was some kind of bar crawl. I've got a bit of experience with the whole "crawling to the next bar" thing! I was thinking I might be getting a little old for that sort of thing but then remembered that Hemingway was doing something similiar when he was here! Gotta keep up with the legends. Thanks!

just got back from another trip to key west, this time we stayed at Nancy's Williams Street Guesthouse off William Street, the harbor is right down the block and just a couple of blocks from duval, she does have a website you can check out. the rates are down in June so you can probably find something under 2000.00 for the week. the places in Old Town are great. parking can be a pain but once again you are going during the off season so it moght not be too bad. good luck, have fun...it's a great town
