It's Hot!

Talk about beach weather! If I make a big deal out of how HOT it's going to be, I figure it's only fair to compare the temperature to what we think of as normal. As I look at our stations in the Southeast, we are seeing many record high temperatures to have occurred from the 1990's right up to the present. Scientists will continue to argue about how much influence man has on our changing climate, but it doesn't take a weatherman to know IT'S HOT!

Summer begins on June 21st, but that's just a date on the calander. We've seen record (or near record) temperatures in every one of the Tourist Network locations this year. Atlanta and New Orleans conjure visions of folks on the porch, fanning themselves, enjoying a cold drink, or ducking into a dark bar (Randy Peterson) in mid afternoon seeking refuge from the heat. But our beach markets revel in the heat!

There's nothing like running from blistering sand into the cool refuge of the ocean. Well, it's time. Forecasts for this summer are for the heat to continue...and while I, like every other Southerner, love to sit on the porch and fan...something inside me is screaming BEACH!!!!

With the good early morning rain we got yesterday morning it actually has cooled off here. We had a glorious and pleasant high of around 89 yesterday. Just loved it. And it is very nice outside right now. Showing 87. Now, this is my kind of summer temps. Glad the 100's are gone that we have experienced a few days out of the week the past several weeks. The low to mid 90's will be back upon us next week, but that is better than the upper 90's to low 100's we have been experiencing. Be glad you guys are catching that cool ocean breeze coming in down there in PC Beach. You guys have been significantly cooler than us temp wise this past 3 to 4 weeks from what I've seen on weather.com!
