Question Getting to know you, part deux

I love music, it soothes my soul... it eases my roadrage, helps me meditate and think, tackles insomnia, and blocks out annoyances....

So my natural question... what's on your iPod/mp3 player? Share your favorites, especially the obscure ones. I love to connect with people through music.

Here's my Top 25 iPod playlist (this week!):

I'll Be (acoustic, but I have both on my iPod), Edwin McCain
Babylon, David Gray
Sexy Back, Justin Timberlake
You Can Leave Your Hat On, Joe Cocker
One Thing, Finger Eleven
The Man Who Sold The World (Nirvana's version, but both on my iPod)
How to Save a Life, The Fray
Crash Into Me, Dave Matthews Band
Whiskey in the Jar, Metallica
Mad World, Gary Jules
Landslide, Dixie Chicks
Dixie Chicken, Little Feat
Hate Me, Blue October
Say Goodbye, Dave Matthews Band
Soul Meets Body, Deathcab for Cutie
La Vie En Rose, Cindy Lauper
Name, Goo Goo Dolls
An unamed song from the BVS soundtrack, Allison Krauss and Union Station
Wild Horses, The Sundays
Hanging by a Moment (acoustic), Lifehouse
American Baby, Dave Matthews Band
Not Ready to Make Nice, Dixie Chicks
Hemmorage, Fuel
The Riddle, Five for Fighting
Everyone's Gone to War, Nerina Pallot

Great stuff Supermav, many of those on my iPod, I absolutely love Broken! How about Shinedown's Simple Man, I like it even better than the original... I am trying to find Hither and David Druman to give them a listen though...

I have to add to my own list, from this week's most played list:

Simple Man, Shinedown
Pretty Vegas, INXS
Forgive, Rebecca Lynn Howard
She's Already Made up Her Mind, Lyle Lovett
Rusty Cage, Soundgarden
Afterglow, INXS
Beautiful, Joydrop
Fall to Pieces, Velvet Revolver
Rapunzel, Dave Matthews Band
I'd Die Without You, PM Dawn
Wish You Were Here, Wyclef Jean
Little Sister, Queens of the Stone Age
Why Can't I, Liz Phair
Just Because, Jane's Addiction (Dave Navarro is on "The List")
Key West Intermezzo, John Cougar Mellencamp
Hurt, Johnny Cash
Behind Blue Eyes, Limp Biskit

blashemy Shinedown did a great job, but Skynard is the OG. J/K

David Druman was from the Queen of the Damned sound track, I don't think he went out without his band (Disturbed) a whole lot.

Supermav, a couple of quick thoughts... I just got home after an 8 hr road trip w/ my iPod and had time to think about my music...

Thanks for the lead on Druman, I'll look for it tonight....

I love LS, but for me Shinedown's stripped-down accoustic reinterpretation is raw and powerful, and shows the beauty of the song, giving LS full artistic credit. :)

I was a major grunge baby and LOVE all things grunge... and yet, have you heard Tori Amos' "Smells like Teen Spirit"??? WOW... I think that illustrates this... in this case it's apples and oranges, but the reinterpretation brings out a completely different tone.

I see you guys covered the upcoming concert already, if you go have a beer for me (I want to GO!!!!!)

That was crazy I would have never seen that coming... here's a cool cover... Paramore, My Hero. Actually the album "Sounds of Superman" contains a bunch of covers.

Got that one! As I review my collection I see over 25% of it are covers... In most cases I have and love the original too, but I'm big on artistic reinterpretation....

Here are a few of my favorites I haven't already mentioned:

Hurt, Johnny Cash, originally NIN/Trent Resnor
Fell In Love With... Joss Stone, originally White Stripes
Feel Like Making Love, Kid Rock, originally Bad Company
Cyndi Lauper, La Vie en Rose, originally Louie Armstrong
Mad World, Gary Jules, originally Tears for Fears (I don't like this one)
Hit me Baby One More Time, Travis, originally Britney Spears (another original I don't like)

On my most played list this week--- his Royal Purpleness... I'm having a Prince faze.....

As I drove to work this morning looking for something to combat the Tuesday blues, I found a favorite cover I left off the list... Korn's Word Up...
