In a nutshell in addition to choosing a magic, melee, or hybrid character the game gives you your option of either a human or orc faction. The two factions and characters are very similar to Lord of the Rings. Also like Lord of the Rings the factions are at war. The game for most of us is about your Journey to level 60 on the way you find the more than occasional skirmish with the enemy, but there are lots of characters you interact with that range from wild creatures, enemies, friendly or neutral these characters stands may vary to each faction. Like any RPG you progress into a stronger character with greater abilities and many times throughout your journey you run into and find you must once again dust off the social skills and maintain some kind of etiquette because you are faced with a difficult task that can't be done without the aid of various other characters. So Teamwork is sometimes necessary. There are also other skills involved such as cooking, tailoring, blacksmiths, engineering, first aid, and botany. There are in game auctions to help the buyer and seller. For Christmas some characters even have Santa hats and elf costumes. The elaborate world is filled with a great plot and time line, it's very easy to get sucked into, I can/have played a straight 8 hours or even more before. If you liked Lord of the Rings you'd love this game, I hated those movies & books but I love this game, now I like the movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BatAdoxRmRY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpHBc8dXVio Now go ahead laugh but you shouldn't knock it until you've tried it. Yeah I do, I like ant farms and Star Wars. I'm a band nerd who never joined band. Last edited by SuperMav83; December-20th,2006 at 10:03 AM. |

Ok SuperMav....I'll take your word for it ... I LOVED Lord of the Rings - the books first (I read them when you were just a thought in your mother's mind) - and I thought the movies were great....so, I suppose I should let my troop buy me the dang thing??? Geez.....will I become "one of them"????

All that preaching about spelling Nascar, and uhm I'd say yes you'd love the game but if you find watching hundreds of Stock cars travel hundreds of miles and end up right where they started (accomplishing nothing but emit some fumes and burnt rubber) intrepid. I think this game may be way to complex, there is a gnome race track though.
LOL If you or anyone else wishes to vanquish your social and sex life with geek-ism and neediness's than i grant you the key of a 10 day free trial. Fair warning though I started this with absolutely no intentions of purchasing the games and here I am lapsing on my first month as a level 37 Tauren Warrior with a Level 12 Shaman. https://signup.worldofwarcraft.com/trial/index.htm Last edited by SuperMav83; December-20th,2006 at 06:01 PM. |

Shame on me!! Diverdown - snicker SNICKER....OOPS!!!
(I still want to know the fantasy!) And since i don't have a sex or social life - nope - not goin' there! Hey Supermav - the next time you get in a vehicle of any kind and travel at the rate of 200 mph for about four hours - tell me if you didn't accomplish something - there is SO MUCH MORE to racing than going around in circles....you need to go to a race w/ me - of course, you couldn't keep your eyes off all the hot chicks....and you might get run over But I suppose that since you have been enslaved w/ the WOW - well, enslaved pretty much says it..... xxoo youngin' |

Thrall. Seriously though, I was poking you with a stick. I just started playing my own character. Warcraft has been a staple at my house for years, just now ventured into the "World" recently.
Red VS. Blue anyone? It's bowchicka time! We actually bought the DVD complete set (insert mockery here ).Does anyone play Carcassonne (board strategy) or any of the Age of Empires? Some of my favorites. |

Off topic, but what the hell: My son got a new Wii for Christmas, so I inherited his old gamecube. Is it possible to play games with others via broadband with the gamecube? I don't think it is, but I'd love to be able to (and no, I'm not gonna get an xbox or ps3 -- although I'd love one), but if I could play golf with friends in antoher town with gamecube, I'd like to. Anybody know?
