Well communism in its truest form allows for everyone to be taken care of and live in comfort. However, the pursuit of power and the indisputable greed that most of those in power grasp for causes ventures like communism to be disembowed in the hands of its rulers.
We, as Americans, can't even have a real democracy because of the bastardization of capitalism and because power and money are more important than the truest forms of democracy. Alexis De Tocqueville wrote in his book "Democracy in America," ...I know of no country, indeed, where the love of money has taken stronger hold on the affections of men, and where the profounder contempt is expressed for the theory of the permanent equality of property... This was written in 1835 on his journey from France to see what a "democracy" was like. So we have always been like this. People moved here for the pursuit of freedom from their oppressive governments, but most came with vast hopes of assuming massive amounts of wealth. That what Americans are. Greedy. It's even shown in our "ancient" documents. Thomas Jefferson actually stole the "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" phrase from John Locke, noted political scientist. The original phrase was "Life, liberty, and the pursuit of property," however, Jefferson changed it in the Declaration of Independence to sound nicer to the ears of "Americans." So... It really doesn't matter what form of government we used, they were all able to be exploited, and well they have. Communism, Democracy, etc... We aren't actually a democracy anyway. We are a democratic republic. Yay us. We win. Go read a book. I'm sure Larry the Cable Guy has a new one out or something. - A/M P.S.- De Tocqueville also said this: "Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude. " Last edited by Weheartourhive; December-5th,2006 at 07:19 AM. So you can't hack it ninny's want to create a society where you can survive and prosper by means of a higher average??? Sure I see the incentives for those of us with lower incomes but than where are peoples motivation for accumulating wealth?
I'm going to make an assumption and say you haven't found great success in today's America. So in high school if you couldn't get on the team did you try to change the sport to accommodate your short-fallings? Lets take a look at how everyone who used communism is doing they still have poor and all wound up with totalitarianism or a dictatorship. So in any form why aren't you in the game to win??? Generally speaking I've never found the losing side of anything creating rules so go ahead and ***** about the rules that everyone plays by. Maybe you should get off your *** hivelover put down the book for a while and get a job. I'm sure the biography of Castro is interesting good luck with that it's sure to take you far. Here's your prize for winning LOL ![]() The Cable guy is great man... LOL http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG-H4nxHj1o Last edited by SuperMav83; December-5th,2006 at 06:13 PM. |

I actually work two jobs and am finishing my BA degree currently. So I'm not just sitting on my ***. I volunteer with youth organizations as well as directed programs for them.
I am in the game to win, but we must be talking about different games. My ultimate goal isn't to have that amazing Porsche in my driveway, but rather be able to place a positive mark on those around me and be financially stable to have everything I need in life. "Lets take a look at how everyone who used communism is doing they still have poor and all wound up with totalitarianism or a dictatorship. " ...Did you not read what I wrote? I already said that it doesn't work because of a person's greed and yearn for power. When the Union was originally formed, everyone was given a piece of land. And now you have Americans saying they should have oil-rich countries distributing the wealth of oil revenues to its people equally? Isn't that socialism? They give excuses that there are people living in poverty and all, but look back here. There are people living in poverty here. You, sir or madam, have taken it on yourself to be the stereotype of the American culture. Since we are Americans, I am free to tell you that your opinion is ridiculous and it's people like you that make the rest of the world laugh at us for being so ignorant to the rest of the world. Can you find Pakistan on a map if it had no names? Or let's try an easy one... how about France? There are people in this town, who are FROM this town who do not think in the conservative viewpoint of "uhhh... we are Amurikanz... we are the world police. You listen to us... blah blah blah blah blah." I mean, come on, you can hop over the bridge and get a degree in Social Science and take all sorts of political science classes that get your brain thinking. You do not just have to rely on the news, your church congregation, or your family's upbringing to construct your opinions. Oh and P.S. - In highschool, I was involved in plenty of organizations and had the fortunate opportunity to not have to change sports rules around to better suit my need. I also urge you to read David Cross's response to Good Ol' Boy Larry. |
