I'm not trying to make waves or anything but...
Morality has nothing to do with any "god". Believing in any certain higher being is not a prerequisite to being a good person or "moral" person. There are plenty of atheists and agnostics that are all around good people. Man only grasped the art of tool making around 100,000 years ago in Africa. (Contrary to a minority belief that we were created 6,000 years ago...It's well...you know...impractical?) I imagine the concept of "God" was the furthest from their mind as they strived to exist in a world full of predators. I'm sure cavemen and women did nice things for each other and they didn't have the 10 commandments or J.C.... Humankind doesn't need some "god" to tell them to do good for others. It is inherent I think because it just feels good. I myself do believe in a Creator but I am not affiliated with any organized religion.(A year in the seminary made me realize a lot of things that I will save for another conversation.) I differ greatly when it comes to the Creator. For one I am a universal salvationist which means even those so-called heretical atheists and agnostics reap the benefits of heaven because they suffered through manhood just like everybody else. Life is hard enough already without having to worry about fire and brimstone. My Creator is a loving one. My Creator loves all equally. We are all his little controlled experiment gone horribly horribly wrong anyway. He gave us the world and we're doing a mighty fine job of screwing it up. Eventually I think he'll thin the herd and kinda level the playing field one day and all these faux "moral" people will rue that day. People keep waiting for the apocalypse but I have news for you...It's already here...1mor·al Function: adjective Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French, from Latin moralis, from mor-, mos custom 1 a : of or relating to principles of right and wrong in behavior : ETHICAL <moral judgments> b : expressing or teaching a conception of right behavior <a moral poem> c : conforming to a standard of right behavior d : sanctioned by or operative on one's conscience or ethical judgment <a moral obligation> e : capable of right and wrong action <a moral agent> 2 : probable though not proved : VIRTUAL <a moral certainty> 3 : perceptual or psychological rather than tangible or practical in nature or effect <a moral victory> <moral support> 2mor·al Function: noun 1 a : the moral significance or practical lesson (as of a story) b : a passage pointing out usually in conclusion the lesson to be drawn from a story 2 plural a : moral practices or teachings : modes of conduct b : ETHICS |
