Mother Fletchers & Freaky Tiki
I was just down to Myrtle Beach this past weekend (August 19th).
I think that Mother Fletchers has relocated to King's Highway (17), there the old Xanadu's once was. I can't find any phone info or websites, or other announcements for this, so I can't confirm that they are open. The last place that I know of where Mother Fletchers was located, was beside Freaky Tiki, at 710 N. Ocean Blvd, at 8th Ave. North. That is closed; they were evicted in Oct. 2004, and the building is sitting empty. (the legal notice hangs in the side window!) If Freaky Tiki plans on re-opening, it probably won't be in the same place. This summer, the building has been split up into beachwear shops, just like all the others on the strip. An expired Sun News article on this is online at http://www.secondpagemedia.com/confu...showtopic=5131 The Sun News had an article on 2/15/2006 (also expired!) that says that a Horry County judge has issued some sort of permanent injunction against Freaky Tiki. I really don't expect it to come back, as their alcohol license renewal has also been denied. A conservative blog has info about club closings over these evil wet t-shirt contests: http://www.jquinton.com/archives/003056.html I saw that Karma nightclub; its in the 2nd floor of the 4-story building at the corner of 11th Ave. north and Ocean Blvd. Last Saturday night, it was completely dark; their sign was off, and it appeared to be closed. Between the conservative killjoy puritans, and the tax-and-regulate you to death city council, they are doing everything they can to kill that downtown district, and close all the fun places. Its NOTHING like it once was. |

A judge has issued an injunction against a Myrtle Beach nightclub saying it cannot open until the end of this summer.
Last fall, Judge Stanton Cross issued a different temporary injunction against the Freaky Tiki Nightclub for violating the city's nuisance laws. His new ruling says the Freaky Tiki shall remain closed for one year or until September 6th, 2006. so hopefully sept 6 freaky tiki can get up and running soon |

Unforntunely the Freaky Tiki will not reopen. I know I'm sad. With the lost of the Attic, there is only one ocean club left, and that's the Spanish Galleon. Of course for 18 & up, there is still Club Kyrponite and I believe the Afterdeck is 18 & up too. If your looking for more up to date info on Myrtle Beach including Nightlife go to funbeaches.com/forum.

First Mother Fletchers is gone. Then Freaky Tiki is gone and now the Pavilion. What is the point in going to Myrtle Beach anymore??? Why can't a new nightclub open in Mother Fletcher's old building???
I am done with Myrtle Beach unless some new clubs open soon I am finding another place to vacation. |
