Thanks man! We were there in early March a couple years ago and there seemed to be a fair amount of students. Nothing to compare with PCB, but the nightlife was happening. I think a lot of the ppl in the clubs were locals, though.
It'll be interesting to get someone else's perspective on it... |

March 10-15
I have never been to Myrtle for spring break before, but I will be staying there this break during March 10-15. I will have my laptop with me and let you know how things are going.

Myrtle Beach is a great place to visit. There's a ton of nightlife and if you go when it's a little warmer, the beach is GREAT (just watch out for jellyfish)... For Spring Break I have found that Myrtle Beach is a little slower than some of the larger Spring Break destinations.
All in all, if you still want to have a good time and avoid the huge crowds of people, Myrtle Beach would be the best choice (in my opinion). I love visiting Myrtle Beach (usually go there 3-4 times a year and am never disappointed). |

When I go to Myrtle Beach, I notice a large group of younger people (not sure if they are locals or not) around the downtown area (where the Pavilion was at).
Myrtle Beach is nice for everyone, they have something for any age group! Even if there's not a large gathering of Spring Breaker's, there's a ton of clubs to really enjoy your time there! And thanks for the welcome to forums! I will give as much input as I can. Like I said, I really enjoy visiting Myrtle Beach (actually I am leaving for there this Friday for a week). |

I have had Jimmy's Japanese Hibachi - very tasty and not expensive at all for the portion of food that you get!! I will be sure to go there and let them know TripSmarter sent me.
I will be sure to post some pics when I get back, I think I might have some from my last visit in September or October - checked out Senor Frogs. The bill was a little more than I expected, but I had a great time and had some good, but spicy, food. :o) None the less, I will post a few pics from my last visit there and will post more from this visit. Thanks! |

hey,
so I'm back from my trip and I'm going to let you know what I think of Myrtle Beach as a spring break location. Just as a reminder, I've been there March 07-11 and I know that it is still somewhat early for spring break, but I'm quite sure that hot spots like PCB or Cancun were pretty packed with students by Saturday March 10th. Well, Myrtle Beach wasn't packed at all.Of course parts of it has to do with the immense capacity of rooms provided by the hotels on the Grand Strand.Well, during the day there were a couple of people roaming the beach, but it was a pretty even mix of spring breakers, families and a quite notable amount of senior citizens! So if you want to go and party on the beach during the day, I wouldn't know where to go! As far as the nightlife is concerned, things got a little bit better, but it's still no comparison to PCB or Cancun. There are a couple of places on Broadway at the beach were you can party and of course there is club Kryptonite( which I found to be very disappointing), but even going out at night felt more like being out on a weekend in any other city in the US than being on a spring break trip! As far as I'm cocerned, Myrtle Beach is a great vacation spot for almost everybody. It's great if you want to go golfing, it's great if you want to go shopping and I bet it's great if you want to enjoy some sunny days at the beach during summer. It's probably even a decent place to spend your spring break if you are from around the area and don't have the budget to travel south, but compared to PCB or Cancun there is not a lot going on during spring break on Myrtle Beach. |

Well, I have finally made it back to the boards here. I too had a great time visiting Myrtle Beach (as always).
I agree, the Spring Break isn't as busy as the big name Spring Break destinations. I tend to like it better that way. I am not a big crowd kind of person, so Myrtle Beach is right up my alley. Also, as you said. Myrtle Beach has something for everyone. Golf, shopping, shows, the beach! No matter what you're in the mood for, Myrtle Beach will have something there to please you! I must say, my past visit was kinda relaxing. We didn't go out and do a whole lot. Though, we did go and check out Brookgreen Gardens (about half an hour South of Myrtle Beach). It's a nice relaxing area with art sculptures and a farm area with a variety of animals. It was priced right, so I thought it would be worth checking out. It's nice for a relaxing activity in the area. We did check out a little bit of the night life in Myrtle Beach. Senor Frogs is always a good time (though a tad pricey). I have had a blast the last two times we have visited. I will write more and post some photos in the morning... I am actually looking online to book a room for sometime in July. I can never get enough (maybe I should just move there) :-) |
