Bike Week on the Strand
Myrtle Beach has it ALL! We didn't get to go to Bike Week this year (which is happening as we speak) due to my illness, but...last years memories are still with me (us) and it was a time I'll never forget! It's my absolute favorite place to go...I even prefer it over Daytona Beach, Laconia and Sturgis.
If you head there for Bike Week, you'll see things you never saw before...seriously! Thousands of bikes...Sportsters, Fat Boys, Choppers, Indians, Hondas...big and small with some of the best paint schemes in the USA. A lot of people had their kids with them, but I really think the kiddo's should stay behind during any bike week, unless it's ok with the parents for them to see much flesh! LOL People from all over the country flock to the beach of SC every year for this event..it's just that good. You don't have to be a biker to enjoy it all...a lot of people drive regular vehicles to get there. Just watch your speed...the coppers are out hot n heavy 24/7.
We always stay at the Myrtle Beach Resort (awesome place right on the beach) which is an enclosed condo with everything from indoor and outdoor pools, a lazy-river, tennis court, putt-putt golf, General Store, campsite, Cabana with live music/entertainment right on the beach (AWESOME!), laundry service, great security...you name it, it's there. There is 2 parts to this place...the main compound (5 floors) and the tower (18 or more, can't remember) right beside it...both are gorgeous.
The places to eat are by the thousands..everything from the normal TGI, Pizza Hut, steak houses and family places etc. to specialty places with great seafood and awesome pancake houses that serve over 100 different kinds. I feel in love with these!
The night life is what really rocks. 'Suck Bang Blow' can't be missed. There are 2 locations, one being newer, but my favorite is the original in Murrells Inlet. It's an indoor and outdoor bar with a place to do your burn-outs, drink, get body painted, buy t-shirts, leathers, jewelry, listen to live bands..and everything else. We also hit the NASCAR Cafe` and did the racing out back which was really cool. Planet Hollywood is right in the middle of things along with the well-known Pavillion with it's amusement park right on the beach. We did a few of the shows nearby..Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede was something to behold, a really good time with excellent food. You don't have to go far to find cool stuff to do, it's all right there for ya. And the gift shops are everywhere to get your souveniers & what-nots. :D
Also, if you are going to be there, you just have to look for Billy Lane from Choppers Inc., the boys from OCC and all of the other set-ups which lend their masterpiece bikes for the eye to see..and buy, if ya have the cash or means. (They'll make ya drool!)
And don't forget the beautiful beach (my favorite)! Miles of sand & surf to relax on and play in!! There are places to go "off the beaten path" to enjoy also if you want scenery and some quiet time.
Hope you all have a great time!
