Icon14 If you like seafood...

I used to vacation in Myrtle Beach every year for 12 years. I'll be going back in a month after not having been there for 2 years and I can say that I do indeed miss it. Especially the seafood!! Since I like to share the wealth, I'll let you know the two best seafood buffets I have found in Myrtle Beach:

Capt. George's

&

Original Benjamin's

Benjamin's used to be our favorite by far. Nothing else came close. Then Capt. George's came along and we had a contender. Actually, I think I like Capt. George's better now. Being a seafood enthusiast, ESPECIALLY CRAB LEGS, I consider myself to be pretty picky. We went to several buffets down there (buffets because I can put down a ton of crab legs) and the others don't really compare to these two. If you go, I bet you'll be happy you did.

Those are great recommendations. When I'm on the south end of Myrtle Beach, I enjoy Crabby Mike's. I have never left hungry.

I heard that Capt Georges have oyesters Rockefeller on their buffet. Have you had them and are they good? We always go to Crabby Mike's, but if they do not have oysters Rockefeller we may give Capt Georges a try.

I can't remember if they have them or not. If they do, I'm sure it is good. Check restaurant section of website for phone numbers.

Now that I'm back, I'm gonna have to backtrack...the Original Benjamin's buffet has definitely gone downhill. I won't go as far as to say it sucks, but it's definitely not as fresh and overall delicious as it used to be. I ended up getting sick while I was there (didn't realize it was in the 30's in 40's in Myrtle Beach in Feb.) so I never made it to Capt. Georges. Did go one place I'd been before though, Liberty Steak House, and that was as good as ever. Great homemade brews too. The new Phillips restaurant is pretty good, though a little pricey. Their crab cakes are awesome, so if you like crab cakes, definitely go to Phillips.

thanks for the update Dshizzle! If you have a spare minute or two, please pop over to the myrtle beach listings and do a review or two.... you can now review the restaurants, clubs, ... everything. We sure would appreciate it.

If you prefer seafood at a restaurant that is not a buffet style, then I would highly reccomend the Sea Merchants restaurant in North Myrtle. They generally are not as crowded as the big buffet places, they set a nice ambience with candlelight and a fireplace and their menu is excellent, including their steak ... always nice to find a seafood place that also serves a very nice steak ... you always got one person in the crowd who doesn't like seafood as well as the rest :- )

Another great place to get good seafood that is not buffet is Bonefish. It's a bit on the pricey side but well worth it.

Thena! Thanks for the suggestions on where to eat and where to stay...

I know someone who lives in Florence. That's about an hour from MB... right?

Re: seafood eateries MB

Yes, you are right. Florence is about an hour from MB. I've been here about 7 years, and the place has grown on me a little.

sea food

My favorite is King Fish Hall here in Boston but when I travel I usually check local restaurants at bestmealdeals.com. The quality of sea food depends on the region and its not the same across the States. But definitely the best sushi restaurants are in NY.
