Now that Mardi Gras is over, New Orleans is getting revved up for its next big event: the
New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Known just as Jazz Fest, it is 7 days of great music and New Orleans culture rolled together!
Now in its 35th year, this Jazz Fest promises to be one of the best ever with a tremendous schedule of performing artists from genres like jazz, avant-garde, gospel, country, rap, hip-hop, cajun and creole; soul and funk; rock and rockabilly; and classic New Orleans rhythm & blues! There will also be Latin, Caribbean and South American genres, including various types of African music. All will be playing simultaneously on 12 stages. There is no way you could be disappointed with what you hear!
However, music is not the only thing that you will find at Jazz Fest. There will be craft fairs, including folk, contemporary, and African American-influenced works. Best of all, there will be booths serving more than 100 different kinds of irresistible Louisiana foods.
The festival will take place Friday through Sunday, April 23, 24, 25, and Thursday through Sunday, April 29, 30 and May 1 and 2. The Festival venues include the New Orleans Fair Grounds Race Course, Morris F.X. Jeff Municipal Auditorium, Mahalia Jackson Theatre of Performing Arts, Palm Court Jazz Café, and House of Blues.
Do not miss this experience of a lifetime!
