Mandatory evacuation going on now. We will be keeping our eyes on New Orleans. Our Live Cam is still operating, and we're hoping that we will be able to keep a lookout on our New Orleans Television offices on Exchange Alley in the French Quarter.
Our Meteorologist, Wayne Gentery, will be keeping those folks who are unable to evacuate New Orleans informed. This is serious, folks. Live cam: http://www.tripsmarter.com/neworlean...a/livecams.htm |

WOW! Hurricane Katrina has sustained winds of 175mph and is strengthening. Still a small chance it could weaken or miss New Orleans. Let's hope.
Keep an eye on that New Orleans Live Cam tomorrow morning. Weather Channel's Hurricane Katrina Info |

Well I'm sure power is out in most or all of New Orleans... so our Exchange Alley Live Cam won't be available util the power is back on.
Luckily no one was injured when 2 sections of the Superdome roof were blown off. Around 9,000 people are there as a shelter from Hurricane Katrina. The latest advisory still has it as a Category 4 at 135mph. It made landfall earlier this morning just East of New Orleans and it looks like the eye is passing New Orleans now and making a second landfall on the Mississippi coast. - A levee in New Orleans has been breached sending 3 to 8 feet of water into the 9th Ward area of the city. - Heavy rains associated with Hurricane Katrina are sending floodwaters into the first floor of Ocshner Hospital. Patients are being moved to the upper floors of the building. We'll post more as we find out. We have lots of friends, family and clients in the area. I live in Bluford, Illinois (95 miles north of the boarder with Kentucky) and we have clouds from katrina. I have no idea what ya'll are going through. I just hope that no one has died. I am so glad to hear that no one was hurt when those 2 sections of roof blew off of the Superdome. Stay safe, ya'll.

We just set up a Hurricane Katrina Forum... to help share information and connect evacuees, families, etc. We'll also have some special messages from TripSmarter and New Orelans Television (N.O.TV) administration. We all wish the best for our clients, friends and everyone affected by Katrina.
P.S. We compiled a huge list of links and resources related to Hurricane Katrina. Check it out: Hurricane Katrina Information |

Employment and Housing Info for Hurricane Katrina Evacuees
We know there are many, many Hurricane Katrina Evacuees in the Southeast looking for jobs, employment, housing... and some still need shelter and meals.
We're contacting all of our clients throughout the Southeast in hopes of connecting Evacuees with jobs and homes... both temporary and permenant. We've set up a special Hurricane Katrina Resource page on the New Orleans homepage of TripSmarter.Com. It contains links to the info we have from our clients, as well as information from all over the Internet. Assistance, Survivor Lists, Forums, Jobs, Housing, Donation links, Blogs.... it's all there. We've also set up a new forum in the New Orleans Forums specifically for Hurricane Katrina Information. This is the place to look for housing, job and employment opportunities. It's also the place to post them if you happen to know of any. New Orleans is a very special part of the Tourist Network Family, and we want to do everything we can to help relocate our friends from New Orleans while the city is being rebuilt. Please pass along this information to anyone who may find it useful. Thanks, The Staff at TripSmarter.Com and New Orleans Television (N.O.TV) |
