The Social Security Administration is trying to get monthly payments get to beneficiaries affected by Hurricane Katrina.

For persons who have direct deposit:
Your payment is scheduled to be deposited into your account as usual. If you experience difficulty getting your payment, go to any Social Security office and request an immediate payment. Panama City’s office is located at 97 W. Oak Ave.
For persons who receive paper checks:
If you do not receive your check, go to any Social Security office and request an immediate payment.

If you are in an affected area where Social Security offices are closed, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is establishing emergency centers. For more information on the nearest open Social Security office, call (800) 772-1213.

Evacuees in need of prescription refills for life-saving medication or medication for chronic conditions can go to any pharmacy in Florida for an emergency, 30-day supply. Storm victims do not have to have a written prescription or pharmacy-issued bottles.
Pharmacists will use their professional judgment in issuing refills. Under Florida law, insurance companies are required to cover emergency refills.
