New Orleans Hotel Update
All city-wide conventions (those utilizing center space and three or more hotels) to be held in the Center are cancelled through March 31, 2006. This is because the Center itself will not be available until then.
Small and mid-size meetings scheduled after January 1, 2006 that do not utilize the Center and that are self -contained in hotels are not cancelled. Each will be dependent on the status of the individual property and the preparedness of the city at that time.
Many hotels will be back in pristine condition in less than 30 days and will be committed this Fall to servicing recovery workers. Many will have beautiful renovations and updating over the next 90 days. Many properties are undamaged or only lightly damaged and are running on self-generated power at this time and fully servicing recovery staff.
Multiple properties are now back up with large water tanks and large scale generators.
Many hotel assessment, building management, and operational teams are in the city and have their properties operational and serving as accommodations for recovery personnel. Other hotel teams are poised to enter the city once issues relating to the evacuation order and credentialing are resolved.
