6682 evacuees can have free housing---listings sorted by state
Free temporary housing for 6862 Katrina evacuees is posted at www.TheOpenHouseProject.org. Beds are available nationwide and are sorted by state.
The Open House Project is a non-profit service that confidentially connects individual housing donors with Hurricane Katrina evacuees. It costs nothing for either party to use. People may find free housing for hurricane victims, post available free housing or volunteer to help at www.TheOpenHouseProject.org. ~~~ Thank you to the Houston Chronicle, CNBC, the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune and the Washington Post for featuring The Open House Project and to all the kind people who are helping spread the word to evacuees in need of housing.
