Cool Mardi Gras

Watching your New Orleans webcam got me thinking about going to the big easy for Mardi Gras. From reading the other posts I guess I can rule out a room in the french quarter this late in the game. Has anyone had any luck getting a room in the quarter? And how far out of town are people going to get rooms? And what does a cab cost to get to those?

Bunch of questions but I want to see if its possible to make it to the BIG PARTY this time! Thanx.

I went years ago, and all I can tell you is that its worth going no matter where you have to stay or how much you have to pay for a cab. Mardi Gras is an experience of its own. Oh the sights you'll see! The craziest people in the world all in one small area means there's nothing but entertainment everywhere you look!

Good luck getting a room!

So what's the weather situation during Mardi Gras? You'd think it'd be warm in Feb. in New Orleans. Course, it might be more more fun if the weather was a bit crisp-- all that exposed flesh! Looking at your pictures in the galleries it looks like the weather isn't bad I was just wondering.

Another Alternative

You might be a little late for any room close in for Mardi Gras, but if you want a parade and a little of the same atmosphere, you might try it on St. Patrick's Day. It is not the same party, but New Orleans on St. Patrick's Day is nice. All the same stuff going on, just not as quite as much of it. I have stayed right in the Quarter overlooking the party for St. Pat's and you see the same sights so to speak.

Really, St. Paddy's day is a good party in New Orleans? Guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Why wouldn't it be? To be honest, I don't think we'll make it to Mardi Gras anyway... looks like we waited too long. THanks for the tip.

Haven't been to either Mardi Gras or St. Patrick's Day in NOLA, but I did make it for Halloween once. Wow, was that something I wasn't really prepared for! I kind of expected the kids to be dressed crazy. It turned out the adults were even wilder.

I'm from a little community between PCB and Destin and was just checking the NOLA live cam to see what the weather might be like here later. Looks like you're having a very sunny day over there!

Here's to hoping our weather is the same!

Talking

Sounds like they have a party for every possible holiday. Oh well, at least I'll be able to have a good time whenever I go. My wife might like St. Patricks Day or Halloween better than Mardi Gras anyway. She thinks I just want to go for the flashers. She's right.

Thumbs up

One of New Orlean's newest residents has been named the Krewe of Bacchus' 2002 Celebrity King - Nicolas Cage .

Cage, star of the classic Raising Arizona as well as more recent blockbusters The Rock, and Face/Off Con Air has purchased the Germaine Wells House, and is town working on a new film, "Sonny."

The Krewe of Bacchus is having its parade Sunday, February 10, 2002 at 5:15 p.m... don't miss it!
