Should I go to NO?

I am going to Biloxi the first of Sept. and wan to drive over to NO for the day and visit the French Quarter and the Garden District. I haven't been there in about 20 years, plus my husband has never been and I want to go to Huey's. However, I have heard alot of bad stuff about it lately, ex. the 6 people murdered this past weekend. Is most of what's being said just media hype? Or are things really bad there? Thanks for any information anyone can give me. Kathy

Hey, Trishben. Thank you for the welcome. Even if you can't tell me anything about NO, it was so nice of you to stop in and say hi. I am a lurker on the PCB board so I know you just go back from there. I hope you had a great time!! I am ready for another trip down, I went the first of June and that was waaay too long ago!! Thanks again for the welcome!! Kathy

All of the tourist districs in New Orleans are back up and running. Garden District and French Quarter were relatively untouched during last year's chaos. I think you'll have a wonderful time in NO.

Check New Orleans Television (NOTV) for more info. One of our programs, Local News, has constant updates about what's going on in NOLA, events, restoration, restaurants, attractions, etc.

And as with any larger city, just be careful and be aware of your surroundings. I haven't heard of any problems in the tourist areas.

PS. and glad you like to hang out in our forums!

Should I go to NO?

Hey Swm5363. Thank you for the info. and the welcome. I love reading everyone's posts and have gotten alot of good information from this board. I kind of figured NO wasn't any worse than Atlanta but since the hurricane, the media has made it appear to be a bad place to go. I am looking forward to going and seeing how much things have changed since I was there. Thanks again for the information and the welcome. Kathy
