Gustav headed to my city

Well, we're watching the news from the Gulf Coast of Florida. I'm sitting watching kite surfers in St. Andrews Bay in Panama City Beach, Florida. They are truly FLYING so high on the winds here, but there are still jet skis and boaters out, and the restaurants and bars here in Panama City are rocking.

Thankfully, all our friends and family had the good sense to get out of New Orleans and Mississippi, and they are with us here.

We are hoping that this is just a big rain without much consequence - gives emergency teams a great 'test' of their procedures without any tragedies.

I wish everyone would get out of there. The people who have refused to evacuate just put our firemen and police officers and first responders in danger. Very self-centered thinking.

Anyway, I'm going to pour another glass of wine and watch the kite surfers... pretty cool. It's fun here on the east side of the storm... and the people in Panama City are the best!

Our New Orleans live cam stayed up the entire duration of Gustav. Which means the Exchange Alley area of the FQ never lost power or Intenet connection.

Online news reports, photos and video show New Orleans still looking goooood........

That's great news and I'm sure many residents and business owners are looking forward to getting back to NO as soon as possible.

Glad to see the damage was minimal.
