WHAT:
A media preview of NOMA's newest major exhibition, Objects of Desire: Fabergé from the Hodges Family Collection, featuring more than 100 precious objects by famed Russian jeweler Peter Carl Fabergé.
A media tasting of elegant cuisine to be served at Saturday's Forty-Third Odyssey Ball, the Museum's decadent annual gala, catered by Palate New Orleans. Selections for Thursday's media preview include samples of Caspian Salmon Napoleon (smoked salmon layered on puff pastry with chive cream cheese), Lamb Gaufrette (roast lamb served on potato gaufrette with fire-roasted red pepper sauce and caramelized onions), Caviar with buckwheat blinis and frozen vodka, Coulibiac (fresh salmon layered with wild mushroom duxelle and veloute sauce baked in a golden shell of brioche), Golden Beet Salad (golden beets, oven roasted, sliced and marinated with sliced onions in a vinegar dressing), and an array of decadent desserts, including short bread cookies, linzer cookies, petite fours, hazelnut truffles and lemon curd tartlets.
