I heard that De La Soul was going to be at Essence. I don't see them listed in the article or here. Anyone know if they are going to play Essence? And thanks for the updates!

Thumbs up

You heard right JOeb. De La Soul is playing July 5th. As we're getting closer to July, the buzz on the festival is really picking up. I wouldn't be surprised to hear more acts announced for Essence Festival.

It's less than a month before we leave for the festival. Can't hardly believe time has gone by this fast. Before I forget I wanted to thakn everyone again for answering my questions. If everyone in new orleans is this helpful and friendly it'll be a great trip!

Of course if you hear any more news please post it!

DAY SEMINARS

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO GET A SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY SEMINARS? I UNDERSTAND THAT THE SPEAKERS HAVE BEEN GREAT IN THE PAST.

I haven't heard any new names. Babyface was the last name I heard.

I was wondering if the imax is worth going to? Never been, might be something to do before the shows start.

Hello everyone,

My plane lands in New Orleans on 7/4 @ 5:30. After I get a cab to my hotel what should I do? I figure that will be around 7:00. This is my first trip to the "fest" and I'm just trying to get a feel for the happenings? Thanks in advance.

If you're in town for the music, you'll want to grab a cab and head right over to the Superdome 'cause the main stage kicks off at 7pm. I'd recommend getting tickets online since you're going to be getting into town that close to the start of the music.

If you're not going to the Superdome on the 4th, then head through the French Quarter towards the Mississippi River and Woldenberg Park. That's where Go Fourth on the River is taking place - the city's extravagent Independence Day fireworks display. You won't have any trouble finding it, just follow the crowds!

Question LIVE CAM?

Sorry Fred this is my first time too. No help there. I have a question-how can I find the place where the live cam is? I want to annoy my friends by calling them and telling them to watch me enjoy New Orleans!!! How do I get to the street its on?

Cool Live Cam location

The live cam is located at 330 Exchange Alley. One of the only Pedistrian Alleys in the French Quarter, between Bienville and Conti (East West) and between Royal and Chartres (North South).

Let us know when you're going there. We want to see, too!

Much thanks to you Toni. The map is very helpful! I'll be in town throughout much of the week. And I plan on calling a bunch of friends whenever I am near it so you may see me a lot!

Talking

Taking off tomorrow for the Festival! Don't forget to look for me on the camera. I'll be the one with a tall hurricane drink and waving!

Cool

Hi Everyone,

Wish I had found this site sooner, but glad I found it before my trip. I, too, am going to the festival. I will be arriving on Wedensday. I've never been to New Orleans, so I'm really looking forward to this. Any suggestions that you can make will be greatly appreciated, ie. other things to see and do.

Also can you tell me when and where the seminars and the lounge shows are held? Is this included with our tickets or do I need to purchase additional tickets?

Thanks for your help. Hope you all have a wonderful time. Maybe we will meet.

She's Deb
