Festival
I am very excited about the festival. Me and 7 of my friends are leaving out Thursday morning. Our flight will arrive at about 9 AM in LA. Anybody know any happs on things to do in addition to the concerts? Does anyone know anything about the Crescent on Canal hotel?

Crescent on Canal
The Crescent on Canal is fairly centrally located.
You can walk to the Superdome from there, but definately take a cab to and from the French Quarter at night. Daytime, you're fine, but stay on Canal St and don't venture away from the busy areas. Your hotel is nice, but the neighborhood between it and the French Quarter isn't a tourist area. All New Orleanians offer a warm welcome to the Essence Fest fans and we all hope that you have a wonderful time! Please let me know if you have any other questions about my hometown.
