Hanging Out is what it IS about! Although a person can organize a very ambitious agenda for New Orleans, it is my professional partying opinion that ... hanging out and wandering aimlessly through the French Quarter is just as legitimate. Don't feel the pressure... indulge your hangover... when it's hot, seek shade and cold drink! Just go where the mood takes you and don't worry about it. You'll find yourself having a good time... I've spent eight hours in the same chair at Napolean House, sipping beer, nibbling nosh and watching the people go by. It was one of the best "vacations" I ever had!Hanging Out is what it IS about!

Right there with ya Toni, there's nothing better than getting just sloshed on Bourbon street and watching the crazies go by. The only time I was in New Orleans it was halloween and we saw some of the craziest sh*t you can imagine. People being led around on leather leashes with suspicious tails sticking up from their bums and bands of gorillas running through the crowd growling and asking for bananas and even nuns flashing! Thats one strange town, but it was the most fun I think I've ever had.

The little lady and i were staying home this past friday evening. No big pans, just hanging out and enjoying a cinematic classic...i think it was Saving Silverman....but i am not sure. The she started in...my lwifes voice can be as drone as the sounds of those automatic hand dryers in the bathrooms I so proudly work in. Just as I was hearing the lecture about silly movies with no point, the pager buzzed...
NEW ORLEANS on the other line....a kamode sanitizer emergency, right in the heart of the French Quarter, no fear Oldyeller, shower curtain installer is here. The wife and I decided to leave the kids at home and hopped into the RV.(Being the kids are in their 30's we recently decided it was time to leave them at home now and again) After trecking from our trailer park plantation we call home...we arrived in the city that never sleeps...wait that's not New Orleans...well it's a crazy town all the same. We rushed to the Gold Club just in time to replace those sanitizers, and now with our goal accomplished, we had the entire night to hang out and wander the madness they call Bourbon Street....these are the tales of OldYeller in New Orleans... Well that Toni lady above has it right...i could just walk around them dare streets all night...people of all sorts walk them streets. Unbenounced to me a little festival called Southern Decadence was going on...being Southern born and bred I figured we should take part in the festivity! Any festival celbrating the decadent lifestyles of the southern gentleman...now that is a party I want to be right in the middle of...if I don't personify that lifestyle no one does. Right away I saw this group of ladies eyeing me up while the wife was using the restroom. I will say this...they grow em big and muscalar in those parts of New Orleans. These ladies were fine and they were sure grinning my way. Knowing i had a few minutes while Deedee adjusted her girdle, i sauntered on over to chat up a conversation. These ladies seemed tickled pink that a southern gent like myself was talking to them...and up close they were just as lovely. Engagin women they were, and talented...they all seemed to possess the deepest bass like voices, you'd a thunk they were in a singing group or something... Off to Pat O'Briens...on a recent trip to Orlando, the little lady and I tried a hurricane for the first time....and just like Opal to Panama City, Pat o'brien wiped me out. Just like the resurgence of that commercial mecca of PCB, I too was ready to face the hurrican again. We walked in and immediately ordered up a few of the liquor filled concoctions...well needless to say two drinks later...Deedee was on the Piano in the adjacent bar swinging her girdle around like Madonna in that president birthday song bit....you can take the girl out of Alabama butyou can never take the AL out of the girl.... They were so nice there, that they insisted they walk us to the door, they even held our hands as they ushered us towards the craziness of the street, with a friendly pat/shove on the back we were on our way again. It was pretty much a blur from that point on...as i remember more i will write more, but until then, I can't weait until next year...and to those lovely ladies - You made an old man's weekend...and don't fret too much my wife has large feet like that too... |
