Best Beaches!

A couple recent articles have named St. George Island and Panama City Beach as "Best Beaches!"

First, Steven Leatherman (aka Dr. Beach) has named St. George Island, Florida as his #6 pick for best beaches in the USA. Leatherman ranks beaches on various criteria, including the look and feel of the sand, water quality, weather, facilities, crowds and more. St. George Island is about 90 miles east of Panama City Beach, near the historical town of Apalachicola, Florida.

And, Panama City Beach took the #1 spot in Weather.com's poll for Florida beaches. Nearby Destin came in as a runner-up.

I agree with both articles..... the beaches along the Emerald Coast are incredibly beautiful and tourism-friendly!

As a lover of PCB we hold these truths to be self evident. Plain and simple, what's not to like? Great food, plenty to do, nice people and awesome beaches. I don't want to spend my vacation time anywhere else.

We just left Destin Aug 1-7 from PCB to Ft Walton there was green slush seaweed it stuck to your body like green slime we could not find any clean water for 7 days By day 3 the water stunk so bad when you walked on the beach it was sickening locals say it is this way every year for last 6 years It was disgusting !!! Children wouldn't go near the beach !!

We've seen it at times but it was not present the entire week we were there. Usually was gone after 2 or 3 days. And trucks do come down the beach in Walton County dragging something behind the truck scraping it up. I would imagine storms can cause a increase in it also. I'm worried more about hurricanes keeping me away than that. We waded through it the first year we came. Haven't seen it like that since, and that was back in 2000.
