Car trouble, just moved to PCB, need new wheels.

My girlfriend and i just moved down to pcb recently, and the car
(our only transportation) started going down hill.

its in the shop right now, (cook-whitehead ford)
but the mechanics are baffled.
they arent charging me for anything yet, because they dont have a clue whats wrong.

right now i am ok with riding my trek mountain bike, but we live at the east end of the beach (right at the bend on thomas), and my girlfriend works 8 miles down, towards the other end of the beach.
so we cant rely on my bike for her, and i need it to look for a job for myself.

so im looking for a cheap transportation alternative...
a used mo-ped / scooter would be great for now but im open to sugestions.
something to get my girlfriend to work daily.

if anyone has any ideas please let me know.
(i havnt seen any used scooters for sale on the beach, but if you know of a place with them 'cheap' let me know so i can check it out.)

Got the car back from the shop, mechanic said it wasnt worth fixing.
its burning oil, and the exaust manifold is messed up somehow.
the bolts holding the manifold to the engine are too rusted to remove without breaking them and breaking them would prevent the mechanic from installing a new manifold, gasket and heat sheild. (which would cost $200 - $600 in itself depending on which of the 3 things needs replacing)
the bolts would have to be drilled out, costing a few hundred per bolt. (looks like theres 4 to 8 bolts.)
and that doesnt fix the oil burning problem lol.

but we cant be totaly without transportation so...
i put new plug wires on it and its running much better.
the only other thing that i can fix is the mass airflow sensor.
so i ordered it.

im still looking for a used scooter/moped if anyone has any idea where i could find one.
otherwise i will keep my eyes on the paper for one.

thanks for taking the time to read this, any help would be great.

You may want to check the scooter rental places here on the beach. Also, I think there is a used motorcycle shop on hwy 77 (in town) acroos from the new Publix (Lynn Haven). I'll see if I can get the name for you next time I drive by.

Good luck!
